You’ve just answered the final question. Phew. But wait—What questions should you ask your interviewer?
This matters for two reasons:
To seal the deal.
To find the right fit.
Questions to Seal the Deal
Many interviewers decide early, but you can sway their opinion. Focus on two key aspects:
Competence: Can you do the job?
Warmth: Would you be a good teammate?
To demonstrate competence, ask:
“I’ve built expertise in [KEY SKILL, e.g., analytical skills]. How important is this for the role?”
“I focus on achieving [Y OUTCOME, e.g., customer retention]. How critical is this for success?”
To show warmth, consider:
“I thrive in a [X TEAM, e.g., collaborative team]. Is this team a good match?”
“I’m excited about a [Y CULTURE, e.g., fast-paced culture]. How would you describe it?”
Top Questions to Find the Right Fit
If the interviewer likes you, ask:
Role Fit: Will I enjoy this work?
Team Fit: Will I enjoy working with these people?
Company Fit: Will I enjoy being part of this organization?
For Role Fit, ask:
“What’s the first big project this person will tackle?”
“What does success look like in this role?”
For Team Fit, ask:
“Who will I work with most?”
“How would you describe their working styles?”
For Company Fit, inquire:
“What are the organization’s top three values?”
You now have the essential questions to close your interview effectively. Good luck!
