7 Lessons on Career and Purpose from my Tirana Talks Interview

In a recent episode of Tirana Talks Podcast with Denajda Leka, I had the honor of opening up about a subject very close to my heart: career guidance not just as a service, but as a path toward personal meaning and social transformation. What followed was an honest and human conversation. And it all started with this quote:

“To inspire others, don’t show them your superpowers. Help them discover theirs.”

This is the heartbeat of InPurpose Coaching & Consulting. Below are seven reflections from the interview, lessons and insights for anyone navigating questions like:

  • “Who am I?”

  • “What’s out there for me?”

  • “Where do I go from here?”

Whether you’re early in your career, exploring a new direction, or feeling stuck, these notes might just light the way.

1. Your path doesn’t have to start with full clarity, just with a first step

I didn’t start my journey with a career coach. In fact, not having one was part of my “why” for becoming one. I chose a degree that didn’t fulfill me, worked in a field that didn’t fit me, and only later realized my purpose through change and introspection.

Lesson: Career paths are rarely straight lines. They’re often made of reroutes that reveal who you truly are.

2. The future of work requires self-knowledge first, skills second

As I shared on the epis, today’s world demands we adapt faster than ever. According to the World Economic Forum, many of us will switch 7 careers in our lifetime. AI, neuromarketing, and hybrid professions are redefining what we mean by “job security.”

But here’s the catch: If you don’t know what motivates you, what your strengths are, and what your purpose is, you’ll get lost even in a well-paying job.

3. Stop fixating on your weaknesses. Your “career capital” comes from strengths

As a Gallup-certified Strengths Coach, I see this mistake far too often: people obsessing over what they’re not good at, instead of building careers on what they naturally excel at. Your “career capital” comes from strengths, not from endlessly trying to become average at something you dislike.

Try this today: Ask 3 people who know you well, “What do you think is my strongest quality?” You may be surprised by the answers, or finally see what’s been there all along.

4. Career coaching is not advice-giving, it’s identity work

In the podcast, I challenged a myth: that career coaching is about “telling people what to do.” It’s not. It’s about helping you recognize:

  • What fulfills you

  • What energizes you

  • What you’re meant to contribute

At InPurpose, we start with questions that illuminate your inner compass. Once you find your direction, the map becomes clearer.

5. Career success requires a support system, not just a CV

Even the brightest students I’ve worked with, graduates from world-class universities, often need motivation, encouragement, and space to rediscover their worth.

Everyone needs a mentor. Everyone needs to be reminded: you are not behind; you’re just in the middle of your process.

6. Feeling lost doesn’t mean you’ve failed, it means you’re growing

In the podcast, I shared my view on failure:

“Failure is the first signal that you need to change your direction, and take one step closer to what matters.”

So many of us internalize setbacks as shame. But what if we saw them as signs? As invitations to change?

7. Purpose isn’t found overnight. But it can be designed.

Your “why” — pseja — isn’t always obvious. And that’s okay. As I told Denajda: “Everyone has their own timeline of growth.”

At InPurpose, we help you design a career that makes sense for your life, your rhythm, your values. Because real success isn’t just achievement, it’s alignment.

In closing: A message to You, the seeker

If you’re navigating a career decision, a sense of disorientation, or even burnout, I want you to know:

  • You are not too late.

  • Your path is not fixed.

  • You are not alone.

You have strengths. You have value. You may just need the space and guidance to name them, and to put them to work for a life that feels like yours.

If you’re ready to begin, I’d be honored to walk that path with you.
